I met Silvetty in Bolivia at a JCI Americas Conference in 2015 and from then until now, I have been amazed at her quest to give back to her community and her ability to lead. In 2020, I had the distinct pleasure of leading her as a member of Team America, the international leadership team for the Americas region. Silvetty was one of our International Vice Presidents, responsible for overseeing the development of the following countries, Brazil, Ecuador, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Her tenacity, innovation and leadership qualities shone through, particularly during a year of extreme change, where a calm and resilient mindset was required. I was forever grateful to have her as a member of my team, one who always contributed in meetings, embraced diversity and aided the organization to build on its mission of empowering young active citizens in our area and across the world.
